Jul 19, The Desires That So Easily Beset Us

I was listening to someone talk about how we need to demonstrate self control in our lives. He was saying that we are to have self-discipline as a member of the body of Christ.

I have to respectfully disagree. I believe we need God discipline, not self-discipline. Proverbs 3:5 tells us that we are not to lean on our own understanding but to trust in the Lord with our whole heart.

Do you struggle with your desires? I know I certainly do. But when I lay those desires at Christ feet, and focus on Him, I find those desires much easier to turn away from.

Jesus tells us that we will have problems living in this world. But He also tells us to take heart, because He has overcome the world! (Celebrate!) (Reference John 16:33)

Do you need help overcoming your world today turn away from that world, and to Him. He will show you the way.

I just got Jeremiah 29:12-13 up in Online Bible Scriptures which goes with yesterday's blog for You Are A Treasure To God.

As I have noted in past posts, I have been having computer challenges. But I believe I have now figured out most of the issues.

Thanks for your patience, I should be posting new pages in the near future.

I listen to Air-1 a lot and I just loved the verse of the day from Monday, July 14th.

It goes something like this...

At the time that you call My name and you go and pray to Me, I will attend to your petition. And when you pursue me from the depths of your heart, you will discover Me. Jeremiah 29:12-13

This scripture speaks to me saying the Lord desires me to seek Him like a treasure, a precious jewel. His heart desires deep, quality relationship with us.

The treasures of the Lord to you today,
Jul 15, Total Surrender

Jaci Velasquez is one of my favorite classic Christian artists. She has this great song called Child Of Mine. Have you heard it? Some of lines go,

I know you so well,
And I can tell
When youve been hiding something from Me,
Just let it go,
Let My love flow
Let it bring you release.
I have come to breath new life
Into the heart of a child of mine.
I have come to bring you peace
So lift your head and believe.

You were made in a beautiful way,
Born to be holy and sure of your faith.
Something inside you has led you astray
Now youre locked in a struggle and it wont go away.
I know you have been down on your knees
I saw you crying for mercy
But how can I help?
Youre still holding on to something more precious than Me.

Ive certainly been there. What was I thinking? That the Lord doesnt know the deepest, darkest secrets that I hide in my heart? He knows, He knew before I ever committed the crime that I was gonna do it.

You know, it does feel weird to bring that thing and lay it at His feet just as soon as Ive done it. But that goes away real fast once I release it. He wants it. He knows Ive done it. Im not hiding it. I might as well let Him have it.

Are you hiding something from Him that is more precious that He is?

Jul 13, You Are What You Think

Andrew Carnegie is known for saying, "Any idea that is held in the mind, that is either feared or revered, begins at once to clothe itself in the most convenient physical form that is available."

Jesus said, Whatever a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Are you taking every thought captive and making it submit to your will?

I don't always, but I working hard to make it happen.

Hi Everyone,

Hope you are having a great week. I am having some computer issues, but plan to have a new page for you soon and some great new content for the blog as well.

I'll be getting that out to you as soon as I can. In the meantime here is a thought for the day.

We as humans have no ability to actually wrap our heads around how big God is.

So, no matter how big God is in your head, He is really much, much bigger.

I know I've been limiting Him in my life. How about you?

God's best blessings to you.
Jul 7, Salvation 101 Part 5 To Earn Or Receive, That Is The Question

Have you ever considered that Jesus paid with His life to save your life and mine?

He shed His innocent blood for my blood, which was tainted.

And not just any blood, but the blood of God.

Now, I dont know, but Im betting that in your book (as well as mine) that would make Him as much of a hero as any Ive ever heard of, period.

So in light of such a heroic deed, isnt trying to do good deeds to get ourselves to heaven or earn brownie points with God sort of like throwing dirt in Jesus face?

By trying to earn good standing with God, are we not saying, Jesus, what You did was just not enough?

So would this not be the biggest sin of all? Can you honestly think of any worse?

There is no sin that can be committed that Jesus has not already made atonement for. Yesterday, today and forever: Period.

Jul 3, Salvation 101 Part 4 Time

Okay, so if the Father is not bound by the constraints of time as we are. This allows Jesus to die for all the people in the Old Testament even though He came after them; as well as for us; as well as those who will come after us.

So just as God is the same yesterday, today and forever, (Hebrews 13:8) Jesus died for all our sin, yesterday, today and forever.

It was by their (the people of the old testament) faith in Jesus as Messiah (savior) that they were saved.

Its all about what Jesus did from the foundation of the world. It is not about me, what I do or what I dont do. The only thing I can do is receive the incredible gift that is just sitting there waiting for me to accept it. Jesus died on the cross for all of us to accept it, yesterday, today and forever. It is done.

Thank you Lord Jesus.
In Your Glorious Name,
Amen,
Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to let you know that I just changed the Nav Bar title of Military-Service to Warfare just as a reminder that we are all in God's Army and we are all soldiers in the spiritual battle that wages on here on Earth.

So if you have already visited Military-Service and taken all the scripture you wanted at this time, this is the only change that has been made. No need to go back to revisit.

Thanks,

Jun 30, Salvation 101 Part 3 The Plan

Revelation 13:8b says that the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the world.

I understand this to mean that Jesus was put on a cross before the world ever came into being. Isnt that how you read it as well?

If we are all in agreement that this is what this scripture means, then this means there was never a Plan A and a Plan B.

There has always only been one plan. God knew we were going to mess up and He knew He would save us. Thats been the plan from the very beginning, or as Revelation 13:8b says, from the foundation of the Earth.

The plan has always been and will forever be to get us all reconciled back to Himself, through Jesus, the Messiah.

Ponder this today, and Ill be back soon.

Enjoy the presence of God Today,

Jun 29, Salvation 101 - Part 2

Part 2

Moses had a temper it would seem. He killed a man before God even began his ministry. There were several times he got really angry at the Hebrews. (I cant say that I blame him much though. He probably handled better than I would have.) Then in his disbelief, he struck the rock instead of speaking to it, as the Lord had commanded. This got him banned from the Holy Land.

David was really bad. He took a census to count how big his kingdom was (pride). He took Bathsheba out of the house of Uriah, and then had Uriah brought home from war when he found out that Bathsheba was pregnant with his baby, thinking Uriah would sleep with her and hide Davids sin.

Upon learning that Uriah would not go sleep with Bathsheba when his men were all still at battle, David had Uriah sent into battle, and then gave orders for the other men to pull out, leaving Uriah alone and unattended where David knew Uriah would meet his end.

The examples just go on and on.

So how did those folks get to heaven? It was their faith! They certainly didnt earn it. The fact is, they chose to believe God that the Word Of God (Jesus) would save them and take them to heaven. No more, no less.

More later.

God's best blessings to you.

Jun 29, Salvation 101

I speak to people from time to time who are concerned about losing their salvation. Have you ever wondered about this yourself?

I dont know about you, but about the time that I started to really seek God, this was certainly a question on my mind. I knew that when I had asked Jesus to forgive me and live in my heart that He cleaned me up then, but what about after? I certainly didnt walk a perfect life from the age of eight on. So did I have to just continue to ask for forgiveness? Or how did it all work?

Well, then I started wondering about how all the people that lived before Jesus came got to go to heaven. They certainly were not perfect either.

Ponder this for now, and well go there soon.
My best to you for now,
Lisa
