Jul 19, 2008, The Desires That So Easily Beset Us

I was listening to someone talk about how we need to demonstrate self control in our lives. He was saying that we are to have self-discipline as a member of the body of Christ.

I have to respectfully disagree. I believe we need God discipline, not self-discipline. Proverbs 3:5 tells us that we are not to lean on our own understanding but to trust in the Lord with our whole heart.

Do you struggle with your desires? I know I certainly do. But when I lay those desires at Christ’ feet, and focus on Him, I find those desires much easier to turn away from.

Jesus tells us that we will have problems living in this world. But He also tells us to take heart, because He has overcome the world! (Celebrate!) (Reference John 16:33)

Do you need help overcoming your world today – turn away from that world, and to Him. He will show you the way.

I just got Jeremiah 29:12-13 up in Online Bible Scriptures which goes with yesterday's blog for You Are A Treasure To God.

As I have noted in past posts, I have been having computer challenges. But I believe I have now figured out most of the issues.

Jul 17, 2008, You Are A Treasure To God

I listen to Air-1 a lot and I just loved the verse of the day from Monday, July 14th.

It goes something like this...

“At the time that you call My name and you go and pray to Me, I will attend to your petition. And when you pursue me from the depths of your heart, you will discover Me.” Jeremiah 29:12-13

This scripture speaks to me saying the Lord desires me to seek Him like a treasure, a precious jewel. His heart desires deep, quality relationship with us.

Hey Everyone,

I know I haven't gotten many new MP3s up lately here at Dynamic-Christian-Meditation-MP3.com.

There were many challenges with updating to a new computer. But I believe I have most of the kinks worked out now. So I will soon be starting on a new session. This one will be based on relationships.

Jaci Velasquez is one of my favorite classic Christian artists. She has this great song called Child Of Mine. Have you heard it? Some of lines go,

I know you so well,
And I can tell
When you’ve been hiding something from Me,
Just let it go,
Let My love flow
Let it bring you release.
I have come to breath new life
Into the heart of a child of mine.
I have come to bring you peace
So lift your head and believe.


You were made in a beautiful way,
Born to be holy and sure of your faith.
Something inside you has led you astray
Now you’re locked in a struggle and it won’t go away.
I know you have been down on your knees
I saw you crying for mercy
But how can I help?
You’re still holding on to something more precious than Me.

I’ve certainly been there. What was I thinking? That the Lord doesn’t know the deepest, darkest secrets that I hide in my heart? He knows, He knew before I ever committed the crime that I was gonna do it.

You know, it does feel weird to bring that thing and lay it at His feet just as soon as I’ve done it. But that goes away real fast once I release it. He wants it. He knows I’ve done it. I’m not hiding it. I might as well let Him have it.

Are you hiding something from Him that is more precious that He is?

Andrew Carnegie is known for saying, "Any idea that is held in the mind, that is either feared or revered, begins at once to clothe itself in the most convenient physical form that is available."

Jesus said, Whatever a man thinks in his heart, so is he.

Are you taking every thought captive and making it submit to your will?

I don't always, but I working hard to make it happen.
